Ingredients
- 4 Pounds (4 ounces each) Gardenburger® Classic Hamburger - CN Label
- 1/2 cup (4 fl. ounces) Vegetable Oil
- 4 cans (16 ounces) tomatoes in puree, canned
- 4 packages (1.3 ounces) dry powdered sloppy joe mix
- 1/2 cup 2 tablespoons (5 fl. ounces) ketchup - low sodium
- 3/4 cup (12 fl. ounces) BBQ sauce
- 1 cup (7 ounces) brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1/4 cup (2 fl. ounces) vinegar
- 50 mini (2 ounces each) whole-wheat buns
- 50 slices Cheddar cheese, low sodium
Recipe Directions
1. Prepare Gardenburger® Hamburger Classic according to package instructions and brown in oil or until internal temperature reaches 160° F; drain well.2. In blender/food processor, blend tomatoes, sloppy joe mix, ketchup, BBQ sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, and vinegar.
3. Add tomato mixture to cooked Gardenburger® Hamburger Classic and simmer 15 minutes or until desired consistency is reached.
4. Place 4 oz. portions of filling on bottom half of buns, then top with cheese and other half of buns.
